Setting off from Marlow Rugby Club, the route heads along the riverbank where you can admire the stunning riverside estates, one of which is the famed Macdonald Compleat Angler hotel. Built in the 1640’s, it was frequented by the likes of F. Scott Fitzgerald, T.S. Elliot and even Queen Elizabeth who is known to have visited for the idyllic views.
Bearing towards the quaint village of Hambleden, you will spy the brick and flint stone houses. Often used in film sets for it’s charming personality, it has featured in the likes of Midsomer Murders and the award winning Band of Brothers. Heading back to Marlow, you will twist and turn your way along the Thames Path, sticking with the river for most of the remaining journey. On the way, be sure to look out for river dwellers such as the hard to spot water vole or even the seals that are rumoured to make an appearance now and then!
Powering on to the last stretch of the trail, you will take the final turn in to the Windsor festival finish where your friends and family will be waiting for you to celebrate. With yoga classes to help stretch out any aches and pains, live music and ice cold beer, there is nothing more you could want from a finish line!
